Name: Kiyyah Wilson
Board position: President
Favorite place in San Diego: Anywhere by the water
Why you volunteer with SDIAC: As a San Diego native who attended the dynamic Clark Atlanta University, where one of our motto's is, "Culture for Service", I wanted to support my alma mater on a larger scale. Supporting the UNCF is indeed a way to promote not only my institution of higher learning, but to also aid in the wonderful legacies of Historically Black Colleges and Universities as whole. Also, after relocating back to San Diego, I had a difficult time finding employment in education. It is my belief that volunteering in your field especially while unemployed, is a creative way to keep one connected to their career passion. I felt the urge to volunteer in areas of minority education specifically, and the SDIAC provided me with a avenue to stay connected to current issues in my field as well as further my experience in humanitarian work.
